If your having trouble selling at online auctions, consider looking into the title of your listings–one of the most influential aspects of increasing consumer traffic to your item.
Keywords: sold on specifics
When you list your item on the auction site, be sure to include an accurate, and searchable title and quality photos of the exact item your selling. When creating your item’s title include important keywords you would search for if looking for this item. Include details such as the brand, material, color, and relevant unique qualities. Example:” Fine China Tea Cup Set” versus ”6 pcs, Blue & White, Lacoche Paris Tea Cups & Saucers.”
For more insight on relevant keywords, search for your item on an online auction and see what other sellers wrote. Make sure you are including relevant information that other sellers have. For example, when selling shoes, almost all vendors list the show size in the title.
Searchable Titles: make sure your listing pops up
Remember that the title is merely used by the platform’s search engine to generate items that match the user’s search. Therefore, its more important to list all relevant and specific aspects instead of generic adjectives such as fantastic, beautiful, or high-quality.
Note that the more keywords you have, the more searches that will result in your listing. Higher traffic means more people will see your listing and potentially click on it. Be careful though, you don’t want to attract just anyone. You want to attract users who would be interested in buying your item. It’s also important to double and triple check that words are not misspelled. Misspelled words won’t be searchable by users. The same concept goes for abbreviations–most users don’t search for items with abbreviations.
Moreover, your title is a tool that brings people to your listing. Make sure it brings not only many people but more importantly the right people.
